Nazmiye Oral is a Dutch-Turkish award-winning actress and writer. She has an established career in the Netherlands and Belgium and is making her mark internationally. She stars alongside Gerard Butler in the action-crime drama film Den of Thieves: Pantera (2025), in feature film Rocco & Sjuul (2023), the award-winning film Zomervacht (2023), In Vrijheid (2016, NPO, for which she won the award for Best Dutch Actress) and the Turkish film Propaganda (1999).

Nazmiye appeared in various series including the popular German crime series Tatort (2025, ARD), Der Amsterdam Krimi (2025, ARD), Hein (2024, NPO), Sleepers (2022-2024, Videoland) and Undercover (2021-2022, Netflix).

For her debut novel Zehra (2011) she was nominated for the E. du Perron Prize. Nazmiye was columnist for the opinion page of the daily newspaper De Volkskrant (2003-2015).

On stage, she has built up an impressive resume. Together with Adelheid Roosen, she founded the revolutionary theatre collective Female Economy in 2002, with which she creates radically intimate and taboo-breaking performances. In 2023, they won the prestigious Dutch Cultural Fund Award.

In the documentary Niet Meer Zonder Jou (2018), based on her stage performance under the same title, Nazmiye talks to her mother about taboos within the Turkish culture. Nazmiye is an inspiring speaker and activist and still travels the world with her film, to various festivals, to discuss these topics.
